Sara Martín Thanks Lois! Any time you plan to visit Barcelona, do let me know, I'll prove to you that we academics are more fun than we seem to be...
Yes, my students are enjoying 'Ethan' very much. They ask me to tell you that the only thing they don't like is the book cover - and I agree that it is certainly a problem, particularly for the ones new to SF. I love your novel and it has been a pleasure for me to find new young readers for it.
Thanks for Miles Vorkosigan as well!!
Sara

Lois Bujold Heh, yes, my misrepresenting covers have been a burden for my work since the beginnings. If I had my way, they would all be plain blue rectangles. Do make the students understand that cover design is not something the author normally controls.

However, somehow my career has survived all the art departments can throw at it, so I don't worry about covers so much anymore.

I will say one thing for the issue -- it does guarantee my audience consists almost entirely of readers who don't judge a book by its cover, a quality filter of sorts.

Ta, L.

Sara Martín Thank you, Lois! I've passed on the message about how the book covers. In any case, you deserve much better artwork...
