that's very similar to Stephen King's philosophy - have you read his "On Writing"? Amazing book!
I have! And listened to the audiobook more times than I can count. I love his "found thing" theory of stories and the idea that you're just extracting something that already exists somewhere out in the mists. It makes the process of putting pen to paper much less daunting if you imagine that you're more like a conduit for the thing rather than its sole creator. I like to think most art works best that way, actually. When you put away the rules and outlines and expectations and just let the music play itself.
