FWIW I loved COTP, maybe more than the other two books. I totally related to Fainne, her story was a difficult one, with challenging choices.
I tend to like the complex, conflicted protagonists, so I liked her too. Same with Blackthorn from the Blackthorn & Grim series - a very damaged person with a long road to travel. :)
Frankly, I can't get enough of the Sevenwaters series. The three newer novels were just as enjoyable as the first three, in my opinion. Flame of Sevenwaters ranks as one of my all time favourites.
I like Flame of Sevenwaters because I am a dog nut!
There are 3 newer novels? Three?*shrieks* What have I done with my life until now? I must have been living under a rock! Runs to Amazon!
Thanks, Juliet! It means so much to me that you are so present here and willing to answer questions. I didn't have word count to be able to say this in the question, but you are one of my favorite authors. I read Heart's Blood and Shadowfell, and I want to start the Blackthorne and Grimm books. Son of the Shadow is one of my all time favorite books. Did you have a hard time coming up with future stories for the sevenwaters books as they weren't originally part of your plan?

Just responding to Julianna's comment about Sevenwaters books 4 to 6 - I didn't have much difficulty coming up with stories even though this was an extension of the trilogy. I did have Sean's daughters who were great potential main characters (I think Clodagh's and Maeve's books turned out really well, not so sure about Sibeal's which I wrote in the year when I was seriously ill.) Those three books not only allowed me to follow thethree very different girls as young women, but also to write more about Ciaran, who had always been a favourite character and who had lasted through a lot of books, thanks to his Otherworld heritage. He is also a focus of the novella, Twixt Firelight and Water, for anyone who has not tracked that down.
Juliet, I just want to say that you have a way of making me love each protagonist to the point where, before I start the next book, I'm sure I won't love the next protagonist as much. Then, as always, you prove me wrong. This is one of the reasons you're my favourite author.

Juliet and all, just have to say that Seer of Sevenwaters is my favorite of the later three. I think it is because I related to the protagonists, who have a more intellectual/spiritual bent than some of the other characters. The cool monsters didn't hurt, either. :)
I'm delighted to hear that, Gwyn! Yes, nothing like some monsters and a difficult sea voyage ... I did like the protagonists and I enjoyed writing Felix's voice.
I hoped you would write more about Sibeal and Felix.
Of course I was also hoping for more Bridei Chronicles....
So many possibilities, so little time! The publishers tend to want something new rather than continuations of existing series, and that often frustrates me, especially where Bridei is concerned. The Bridei Chronicles are still doing pretty well as audio books so maybe in the future I can do something that is just audio, we'll see. Right now I have enough work on hand for at least the next two years. :)
I too, was hesitant at first, but I'm glad I read them when I found out they existed. They made a great add on to the original trilogy. Flame was my favorite of the new three.
