I like Alien too. Wasn't too keen on all the sequels, though. Just like the Elm St movies, the very first one was the best. They call it the "haunted house movie set in space", and I would certainly second that! Still can't watch the chestburster scene without wincing!
I actually like all the sequels, though none are as good as the original (which is typical). The second one however, comes close, since it approaches the material in a different way. It's a sci-fi action thriller more than a moody, spooky haunted house in space kind of film.
