I misjudged your book initially, because of the emotional immaturity of "the boys." I haven't read any novels with truly unlikeable characters for some time, and Fabio in particular threw me.
Now I'm back to reading. I really do like your descriptions of the lanscape, the sea, the light, flora and fauna. And I sympathize with "the boys" desire to leave and go somewhere, anywhere else but a place just like it. (I went through the same thing myself.)
It is a bit strange to both identify with and be appalled by any single character, which is a good reason to go back and finish the book. Though these guys will likely never see women as equal to or better than them... like Anna.
