Gail Parker Great question and I liked the answer given. As a former middle school teacher I think the parents and folks who buy books for their growing teens underestimate the importance of kids being able to process things through the literature they read. Today's schoolchildren are painfully aware of the risks and outcomes of school shooting tragedies. But it can't be easy finding an author who can handle the topic as sensitively as EVERY MOMENT AFTER does. The way this book puts the event in the past, but impacting the present lives of the characters lets folks allow themselves to relate to the characters without fearing being traumatized. Moldover's sensitive handling of the realities of life even years after a shooting incident is what makes this book stand out. This is where that conversation could start... with parents and kids and communities reading this together and having followup discussions and conversations.
