Jim Priscilla— exactement!

Mzhenya I understand it is a work of fiction but I wish there was some remote semblance to the truth. I too was frustrated reading it because so much of it was just off. You’d think one would get the basics correct, including food descriptions, which is easy to do; otherwise it should’ve been called a Gentleman on Planet X, a planet that doesn’t exist at all, rather than trying to be linked to Russia. I viewed this work product as lazy, not spending even an hour of time to pick up the basics. For people that are familiar with Russian history, it is a frustrating experience reading it. I stopped half way.

Jim Bates Put me in the I loved The Gentleman From Moscow column. It's a wonderful work of fiction, both highly entertaining and extremely well written. This reader couldn't ask for anything more.

Bookworman I'm with Jim on this one. The humor, the irony, the wonderful references to my favorite Russian novels... it's a wonderful story and worth the time to read.

Lynette Gaines Anyone who is annoyed by inaccuracies in your novel seem to forget that this is a work of fiction. To me, they come off sounding like priggish big heads who want to show off their amazing knowledge about Russia instead of enjoying it for what it is. Gabriel Garcia Marquez must have drove these nitpickers crazy with his infusion of fantasy in his fiction. I just finished reading your book for the third time and still relished it. Your way with words is witty and wonderful. Another friend of mine recently bought your book and I'm looking forward to discussing it with him.

Lynette Gaines PS: I even changed my ringtone to play Chopin's Nocturne, Opus 9. Such a delightful piece.

message 10: by Casey (new)

Casey I read this book twice already. It is one of my favorite books, ever. It's fiction, and for the beauty of the writing and the story, I am grateful for it.

message 11: by Susan (new)

Susan I loved the writing and the book has been passed on to three others for their enjoyment. It is one of my favorite books.

message 12: by Mischa (new)

Mischa Lewis probably the most beautiful book I read last year. think back on it often and get lost in the story for a moment before I return to reality :-)

NjM My favorite book! The captivating story unfolds, and if you can find the life lesson, especially important in today’s time, you’ve found a most wonderful gift.
