Womanism is a term coined by Alice Walker, in an effort to address the concerns of women of color marginalized by the Feminist movement. Unlike feminism, womanism "elevates all sites and forms of oppression, whether they are based on social-address categories like gender, race, or class, to a level of equal concern and action.
