Founded in 1666 by Roger Phelps and William Derleth just north of Boston on the shore of the Miskatonic River, from which the local University got its name, Arkham has always been the center of strange and unusual happenings. The name itself comes from the local native dialect denoting the negative spiritual activity which haunts the Western Hills. Cults litter the town's pasts, along with the mysterious disappearance of the Native America tribe - dubbed the Miskatonics - whose origin is unknown, give the town an eerie and uncanny air to it. Stranger still, once one enters Arkahm city limits, one almost never seems to be able to leave. There is always something keeping them here. In truth, demons, children of the Great Old Ones from beyond the stars, have always made this town their home.
