[close] Magick once pulsed through the Earth's ley lines like blood flowing through veins. The flux and flow of energy fueling the beings known as the Fae. But ever since the Milesians took Ireland, magic has been dying. Saint Patrick stamped out the worship of the Old Gods, further distancing the realm of reverie from the waking world. Various tribes, under the rule of various kings and queens, took to individual sidhe and brughs, forming their own tuatha. Because of their isolation and extensive interbreeding, faeries risk the weakening of their family lines. To keep their tuath alive, the Fae began kidnapping humans, called changelings, to reproduce with. This schism of the species lead to a eugenic-like ideology and the eventual formation of two warring courts: the Seelie and the Unseelie. The two fought for centuries, nearly annihilating each other before a bloody truce was formed. After facing extinction for so long, humanity began having faith again in the 1960's. With enough glamour bombing and children wishing, the ebbing of magick ceased, and the two worlds were brought together again. However, the outpouring of energy not only reunited the realms, but brought back the Old Gods, going so far as to touch the Summerlands, rejuvenating the deceased. Unfortunately, this also meant the Fomorii who were banished there also. The Fae have little time to celebrate the return of their overlords, as their greatest enemies have also awakened. The battle of dreams and nightmares now commences, and if the Fae lose, darkness will rule the minds of men, corrupting magick forever.
