During the Salem Witch Trials, many were slaughtered, and the casualties seemed endless. Soon, they turned their sights to other beings. Vampires were found dusted in their homes, werewolves riddled with silver bullets. We decided that enough was enough. We needed a ruler who could take away our fears. For centuries, the sword Excelia had been guarded by a fierce dragon. Forged at the dawn of time by a trinity of the most powerful mages, it had the power to kill even an immortal being. Collectively, the entire supernatural realm decided that they who pass the dragon, enter the cave and retrieve the sword shall rule them all. Many tried, but it was for Oberon Lycoris that the dragon stepped aside. Oberon decreed that the Arcane were no longer safe in the supernatural world, and so called upon the most powerful magical beings to help him create a century for their kind. This kingdom, of which he was crowned King, was to be known henceforth as The Netherworld. Oberon cared very much about education. He had always dreamed that one day, a school for the Arcane might be a possibility. Now, he used his newfound power to make it a reality. Appointing the most powerful enchantress on earth its headmistress, he founded Nether Academy, a school for the magical arts. As years passed, the arcane faded from the memories of the humans and passed into legend. Many began to feel safe and so returned to the mortal world to live ordinary lives. Some even sent their children to ordinary schools. But the Netherworld still exists, and every child with even a drop of magic in them receives a letter of acceptance to Nether Academy upon their fifth birthday.
