[close] The SSV Normandy is attacked by an unknown vessel while on patrol in the Amada System, killing twenty-one Alliance personnel including the so-called Savior of the Citadel, Lieutenant Commander John Shepard. Following the attack, Shepards body is recovered by Liara T’Soni with the support of Cerberus operatives for use in the Lazarus Project. 2185 Restoration continues on Citadel station as crews work around the clock to complete reconstruction in the wards as large areas remain without power in the wake of the Geth attack two years ago. Continued disappearances in the largely lawless Terminus Systems prompt a number of concerns within the Alliance as military intelligence services point to the increasing aggressiveness of Batarian slavers and pirate groups despite little evidence, a number of groups such as the human-survivalist organization known as Cerberus take it upon themselves to investigate what they call blatant attacks on Humanity.
