[close] This is a group for the very specific genre of Monster books. Maybe it is a mutant shark on the loose, an escaped experiment, or even something beyond our comprehension. For the books that make us listen for those creaks in the night. I put this under Mystery and Thriller instead of Horror, Because to me a good monster book is more about the suspense than the scare. Also, Vampires and Werewolves have their place, this is not it.

[close] This group is not so much about queering comics, but more about exploring the queerness comics may already exist in. We're particularly interested in how the monstrous serves as more than a metaphor for the intersections of oppressions on a body, how comics engage (or disengage) with the fact/fiction divide, and how this format familiarizes us with subtle, drastic (fluid?) transitions.

[close] Welcome to BOOKS THAT BANG, the book club where we read between the sheets—of the book, of course! We’re here for the steamy scenes, the jaw-dropping plots, and the characters who make us think, “Did they really just do that?” Yes, yes they did. And we love it. We read smut. We read monster romance. Hell, we read whatever gets us hot and questioning our sanity (and maybe our legal standing, too). Each month, we’ll gather to discuss the stories that make us wonder if we’re a little too obsessed with fictional characters—Spoiler alert: we are. Whether it’s a romance that has us turning pages faster than a caffeine-fueled speed reader, or those scenes that make you pause and think, “Should I call a lawyer, or is this just me?”—you’re in the right place. No judgment here. Except for the characters. They might be really questionable. Prepare for a lot of laughs, a little bit of blushing, and a lot of "WTF?!" You’ll never look at a romance novel the same way again.
