[close] Welcome to The Minority Club! Our goal is to bring together a community of individuals who are passionate about exploring and discussing some of the most challenging, controversial and thought-provoking ideas and worldviews. What unites our members is our obsession for intellectual rigour, honesty and humility. Every day we commit to read at least two chapters of a book we choose from a wide range of fields including philosophy, logic, mathematics, physics, and computer science. These books are often dense, technical, and require a high level of concentration and critical thinking to fully comprehend. However, we believe that the effort is worth it, as these books offer insights and perspectives that can help us to better understand ourselves and the world we happen to inhabit. During our meetings, we delve deep into the major topics and ideas presented in the book, using a combination of open debate and transparent analysis to digest the material trying to be as clear and critical as possible in order to grasp the foundations. We encourage all of our members to actively participate in these discussions, and we welcome a diversity of views and perspectives.

[close] (see title) Planning to read one book a month until we decide that's too much or too little. -We'll begin reading each new book on the first of the month. Be ready to discuss by the last week of the month. -Books will be chosen on a rotating basis between moderators. Moderator is responsible for providing questions and topics for group discussion, condensing all discussion into a digest-version "Bookclub Review" of the book in question, compiling quotations from the book that speak to its purpose and gravity, and following up with a group-specific rating out of five stars. Moderator will also be responsible for leading a "follow-up" thread after each book to determine good and bad aspects of each book so future book choices can be influenced by the group's preferences. -Non-choosing members are responsible for responding to questions, posting a thoughtful response, generally participating in discussion and questions, and (obviously) reading the book. Let it be known that if you become an inactive piece of dead-weight shit, you will be booted from our awesome group, never to return again..... unless you ask real nice.

[close] Gelecek Araştırmaları Enstitüsü; geleceğin tasarlanabilir ve yönetilebilir olduğunu çeşitli projeler vasıtasıyla toplumun tüm katmanlarına anlatmayı hedefleyen, kâr amacı gütmeyen bir sivil toplum kuruluşudur. Gelecek Okulu, Enstitü'nün bir düşünce kuruluşu olarak, yaratmaya çalıştığı bilimsel yaklaşım ekolünü temsil eder. Goodreads platformunda oluşturulan bu kitap kulübü ise şekillendirilmeye çalışılan yaklaşımın düşünsel temelini oluşturacak insanları bir araya getirmeyi arzulamaktadır.

[close] A community of people who want to engage with topics spanning across physics, mathematics, computation, biology, chaos and complexity theory, cognitive sciences (artificial intelligence, neuroscience, psychology), philosophy of science (and other areas at intersectional crossroads) at a more robust level than popular expositions that are intended for a broader audience. Every member ought to have the enthusiasm and will to work through difficult texts (and solving exercises, if needed!) This implies that the selection of books that are more formal in the treatment of their subject matter will be prioritized over those that shy away from complications, but doesn't necessarily exclude anything apriori. On the other hand, we want to pick up those having relevance in addressing fundamental questions rather than digging down the rabbit hole for extremely niche curiosities.
