[close] Here's a place to respectfully share opinions and peacefully debate with each other over a variety of topics, including climate, religion, politics, rights, education, and more. We'll make sure you're respected as you debate, no matter what views you have! This group is mostly for people in the US (because of many of the topics covered), but people from other countries are welcome! We want everyone to feel comfortable and respected. Please stay calm, and don't feel obligated to join an argument if you don't want to. Please don't hate on anyone, mock anyone's beliefs, or use slurs. Sometimes I'm not sure which folder to put a topic in, so it might be a bit messy. You can let me know in the Topic Suggestions chat if I should move a topic, or add a new one. Feel free to invite friends to the group to debate with us!

[close] Study and discussion of the important questions of ethical and political philosophy from Confucius and Socrates to the present. Rules (see also the Rules and Housekeeping topic): Subject to copyright law and these rules, posters may cite, link, or quote any publication, including their own. Posts linking to outside sources must contain a brief explanation of the nature of the linked material and, unless obvious, how it is relevant to the topic being discussed. All posts and linked material must be in English. Posts and any linked material should be polite and not degenerate into ad hominem attacks. The purpose here is to seek light, not heat—rational discourse, not shouting matches. Leave your cable news persona at home and put on your philosopher's mantle when entering this group. Rational argumentation and Socratic questioning are welcome. Hectoring, intimidation, insult, and presumptuous condescension toward other group members are cause for immediate removal from the group. Internet "trolls," advocates of violence, and posters failing to comply with these rules will be removed from membership, as will posters who persist in raising issues that are outside the scope of the subject matter of this group. [close] Would love to focus on revolutionary authors and historians, social justice movements, politics philosophy and more. Whether that is through fiction or nonfiction, does not matter. Books that are eye opening and discuss things that arent directly taught. Pretty much anything is welcome if anyone wants to present a specific book please feel free to include it here. The hope is to achieve deeper understanding and engaging communication through books but also through each other, we all have different strengths and backgrounds of knowledge and information, we learn most from each other.

[close] A place to discuss all the unique aspects of Deaf culture as highlighted in the thriller Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) by Lance & James Morcan. This group can also be an intersection of sorts where Deaf and hearing people can engage and learn from each other.
