Shounen Ai
Shōnen ai (少年愛, lit. 'boy's love') is a shōjo manga subgenre that focused on love stories between boys. This term was used in the '70 for the works of manga artists like Keiko Takemiya and Moto Hagio. The term was later included in the broad meaning of the most recent term used in Japan, Boys'Love.
In the present, the term shōnen ai is used by many Western readers to refer to manga works that focus on the more platonic and romantic aspects of homosexual relationships between male characters, opposed to the ones focusing on the physical side, called yaoi.
