The Sanskrit word DAKINI in Tibetan means Khandro, which means "Sky Dancer," literally "She Who Moves Through Space."
The Dakini is the most important manifestation of the feminine in Tibetan Buddhist teaching. She can appear as a human being or as a deity, often portrayed as fierce, surrounded by flames, naked, dancing, with fangs and a lolling tongue, and wearing bone ornaments.
