That activity at night can be hard. My cat is older now but when he was younger he disturbed my sleep quite a lot.

That's sad but I agree I would not want my cat to suffer. My cat is 13 now but he is doing well. My son is very attached to him and he sleeps with him most nights.

I loved the book for the way it showed both the dedication of the mother to her autistic son and how it displayed the positive effect the cat Ben had on their life. It is well studied that pets have such effects on those struggling with illness or other conditions that cause a person to have difficulty coping with life in the modern world.

Part 2: Finding Ben
The difference this little cat made to Julia and George’s life was immense. He allowed Julia to understand George and for George to communicate better and feel less anxiety. Wonderful.

This is a cute retelling if the Christmas story. 3 wise cats travel to find the Messiah and along the way met with humans including the 3 wise men. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration. Miracles occur for those who seek and find the Messiah. A lovely addition to my Christmas reading.
I give it 4 meows.

Before Ben:

The woman who wrote the book had many hard and painful experiences after falling pregnant. I could feel her heartache and pain as I read having experienced some of the same types of things myself. My youngest child has learning difficulties and I can relate to being 'assessed as a bad mother' because by the age of 7 she could hardly read or write. In my case, a teacher eventually apologised to me and accepted that I really had tried every method possible to teach my daughter to read. The isolation and loneliness, guilt and grief, are all very raw emotions and Julia expressed this so well. I can relate to this even though my situation was nowhere near as difficult as for Julia with her son George. The strength of Julia shines in the book.
I liked the honesty of the author and how well she related the issues without having a pity party. She just told it like it was/is.

Yes he makes it very hard sometimes to read.

Hi Sunshine. Welcome to the group. We are small at the moment but each month I spotlight 2 cat books; one for adults and one for children. I hope there are some books you enjoy.
We are all cat lovers here and enjoy hearing about other peoples love of our feline friends.

My 11-year-old cat is having similar symptoms but his eating has not dropped as much as your cat. We took him to the vet last week and had blood work done to check for metabolic disease. Kidney disease is a main one for senior cats and this could be the problem with your kitty. It can be treated if caught before the end-stage. Can you take him to a vet and get blood work/urine sample done?

My Romeo's results does not show any such issues so the vet thinks it could be arthritis in his spine and he is in pain. We are treating that with herbs and supplements at the moment and having x-rays done next week to check how bad it is. He may need analgesia. Again pain could be an issue for your cat. No two cats are the same.

I hope you get answers for the little guy.

This is a delightful tale based on a true story. The illustrations are equally good and I think cat loving children would like it. One for music lovers too.
