- We can set up any number of discussion areas you guys want; at the moment, we anticipate discussion focused on the individual prompts. Click on a prompt, giggle to yourself if it sparks happy memories of kittens, then find a book that meets the prompt.
This is the first challenge we've done exactly like this, so it's a work in progress. We can easily make changes as we go along - let us know about things you would like to see and we'll try to make it happen.
- As we go along, there will be more people sharing book ideas and books they have read. So yes: add as many books as you want for prompts! We will all appreciate having some ideas as we search for good books.
- Congratulations on getting audio-books!!!!! I loooove reading audio-books, and definitely enjoy listening while I'm cleaning, walking, doing tedious work, etc. I'm so glad the library was helpful to you!
If you, or anyone, has questions that are complicated or potentially unrelated to the challenge, feel free to drop me an email at admin @ cmle.org. (No spaces in the email!)
You can use this spreadsheet to track your reading in this challenge: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...You can copy this document, and edit it in any way that helps you to keep track of information about your own reading!
Remember: there is NO need to read every prompt! We're just having some reading fun this year, so anything you read is just right.
We are all here to enjoy books! And whether or not your favorite author fits into one of our prompts, we would all like to hear about them.Feel free to share books you love, authors you must read, and books you are looking forward to this year!!
We know that kittens need to nom frequently, to be sure they gain weight (as noted on their charts we all follow!).Celebrate their weight-gain successes with a book about weight/weights/weighing things OR a book about improving/achieving!

Let me know if you want some novellas, or some shorter books suggestions. Or, try some YA books! There are a lot of really good ones, and they tend to be shorter.
Length does not = Quality; it only matters if you enjoyed the book!

Sure Margot - click on your message, and then under it you can see some links: reply, edit, delete. So you can edit or delete anything! :)
A few months ago, I wrote an article for our website about road trip books: https://cmle.org/2019/05/07/book-bouq.... There are tons of books in this area, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one you like! (But let me know if you want a specific type of road trip, and I'll see if I can find it for you!)
Road trips are fun! And they are part of the KA experience. Some of us will road trip to the annual KA-Con, and others will be road-tripping to pick up their kittens/momcats - taking them back to their fur-ever homes. Either way, good stuff happen in these trips.Whether or not you are on the road this year, find a book about a road trip. (Bonus for you if the book also involves cats/kittens!)

We love and support the work Mr. A does at KA, and recognize that everyone has individual tastes in books and in life! So you can join Mr. A in not being a fan, or try out a book by/about Shakespeare, or a Shakespeare adaptation - or a book with lobsters in the title, on the cover, or as a plot point!(Thanks to Mr. A for all the work he does for the kittens, momcats, and the entire KA community!)
KA has great map rugs, to help show off the adorable kittens - and clearly they pick up some geography while they are at the Academy. ("Look - I'm being adopted over there!" "I'm headed over here!")Read a book with a map on the cover, or with maps as a plot point.
Hi! I'm Mary, from CMLE (the moderator!), and I'm geohiker on Discord.Welcome to the challenge everyone! I hope you enjoy reading some fun books this year, and that you are inspired to try some new books. Share your suggestions with the community, so we can all try some new books this year!
Decorating for Christmas is an important time at KA! DJ gets us started in plenty of time to enjoy sparkling lights, non-breakable decorations, and all sorts of shiny things to admire.Join the celebration with a book about Christmas!
Viewers at home love to admire Mr. A's non-matching socks as he pads around the Academy, caring for momcats and kittens alike!Celebrate his fashion sense by enjoying a book with socks on the cover, or socks as a plot point.
KA is a technology-friendly environment, and you can admire the kittens in some virtual reality when you search their YouTube videos!Share the VR/AR interest by reading a book that has virtual or augmented reality as a plot point.
One of the best parts about KA is following the adventures of the the graduates! Alumni photos are so fun, and it's great to hear the stories about the kittens we fell in love with while they were students.Honor their work by enjoying a book about alumni, from a school or anywhere else!
Part of the joy of being in an online community is the casual wardrobe we can all adopt! Follow the fashion stylings of DJ, and a lot of us, by enjoying a book about a character who like to wear pajamas.
It's so fun to be part of this community! As Mr. A and DJ say: it's the best place on the Internet. Celebrate this wonderful community reading book about a virtual or online community.
Most of us enjoy our participation with KA primarily through the YouTube channel, particularly enjoying our Saturday mornings with the KA family gathered to watch Mailbag! Keep the YouTube spirit alive with a book that has YouTube videos and creators. (Note: a lot of YA books have this as a plot point, so it might be a good time to explore YA if you are not a usual reader!)
Video games are very popular in the KA community. Enjoy a book about people playing video games to be part of the fun!
We have all admired DJ's work in getting through medical school and onto the rest of her medical training! So let's celebrate her efforts by reading a book about med school OR medical practice/life as a medical professional of any sort.
