109617 That's remarkable, that the author described the Falklands so well without going there.

109617 I agree it's an interesting look at the Falkland Islands themselves and what it's like to live in a confined space where everyone knows your business.

I saw the movie. It's okay.

109617 Books like this help inform the public about rare conditions. I read this one a while back.

109617 This is a good book. 👍
109617 I enjoyed this book very much. Gabby overcame so much adversity to become successful, with her mother struggling financially and her own varied career (partly as a phone sex worker). She tells a very good story. 😊

109617 I agree that the personal details about McNamara and her family were interesting and added a lighter side to the book.

109617 I admire McNamara's dedication to uncovering the identify of the Golden State Killer. She was relentless with her computer search for information and clues and it's sad that she wasn't able to complete her manuscript before she died.

This book was put together from her notes and writings, and I think it's very well done. 4 stars

109617 I love the recurring characters in this series and Mma Ramotswe's philosophy.....where she thinks everyone has some good in them (or is redeemable). 🙂

I think the book is basically about one person, Cudjo, but he does talk about other people....like his sons, who experienced some tragedies.
109617 I read this book a little while back. These slaves, brought over against their will, had such a difficult life even after they were freed.

109617 I agree that this is an excellent book. The story of the Greek immigrants who came to the U.S - and their lives here - is so interesting. And then Cal's experiences, and genetic heritage, make for a fascinating story. Very well written.

I read The Last Black Unicorn. She's so funny but her memoir shows she had a tough life. I gave it 4 stars (which is very high for me). 😊🌹💕
