This month (Dec.), in 1642, Dutch explorer Abel Tasman sighted New Zealand from his flagship the Heemskerck – a momentous event that features in my historical adventure ‘New Zealand: A Novel’.

"On page 20, I just read about the Bubble Boy who died from Epstein Barr which was in his sisters blood cells and he had no defense against it. It is not really alive but like a crystal. Does any of you know books like Rubaiyat (of Omar Khayyam) , the works which reflect/engross the beauty of life, or like some Changampuzha poems in Malayalam ("Come what may, I want to savour, this wine like life" - എന്തു വന്നാലുമെനിക്കാസ്വദിക്കണം മുന്തിരിച്ചാറു പോലുള്ളൊരീ ജീവിതം).
