Edoardo EttorreEdoardo Ettorre was born in L’Aquila in 1994. After attending the Liceo Scientifico Marie Curie in Giulianova (TE), he enrolled at the L’Aquila Academy of Fine Arts in 2013. During his years at the academy, he began to approach painting: a spontaneous, gestural painting that is still the hallmark of his paintings. In 2015/16 and 2018/19 he lives in Valencia (Spain) and attends the UPV (Universitat Politecnica de Valencia) thanks to the ‘Erasmus’ programme. He experiments with several fields of visual arts, being particularly fascinated by installation and street art, expressions that often coexist in his works. Hand in hand with his experience abroad, an interest in the dynamics of modern society and social criticism begins to manifest itself in his works. In February 2020, he obtained his second level diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts in L’Aquila. He currently devotes himself to predominantly pictorial research, jumping from small paintings to large murals. Using different techniques, he paints familiar images captured every day by our gazes, now attentive now distracted, such as a waitress on the phone or a snapshot of an evening with friends. His poetics focuses on the relationship between the individual and society, on aspects of the ‘pre-packaged’ world in which we live. Questioning these issues leads the spectator to reflect, using the tones of sarcasm.

Inspired by a photograph taken by a friend during a trip to Madagascar, the mural depicts a young boy in sandals, carrying a bundle of cassava and looking up at the sky with a bright smile. For Edoardo Ettore, this choice is not insignificant: "Madagascar is a former French colony, and I like my works to remain open to interpretation." But if I had to give one, this smile reminds us, especially Westerners, that happiness is not always found in the objects we accumulate."

Irene Lopez LeonIrene Lopez Leon is a painter and muralist born in Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. BKFoxx is a public artist from Long Island NY, an '88 model (as her father says). She paints photorealistic murals in only spray paint; no brushes, no projectors, no stencils. She became interested in street art in 2013, practicing with spray paint in abandoned buildings. She thought it was really powerful to be able to transform an entire place with just paint. And starting with old, rundown walls in New York, she has been invited to paint murals around the world, from France to Sweden to Ukraine.

Every month I choose a theme and try to post as many different artists as there are days.
This time I won’t keep the theme secret—it’s street art.I recently came across a website that collects street art from around the world, and for August 2025 alone there were more than a hundred nominees for “best of the month.” Visitors could vote for their favorites, and the site features the winner as well as all the nominees. That struck me as an incredible amount of creativity for just one month—proof that street art is really exploding right now.
Most of the works are huge, sometimes stretching across the whole side of an apartment building. Many lean toward the surreal, a few toward abstraction, and all of them are painted under real-life conditions, in whatever weather the artists faced.
I’ve made a selection of thirty pieces that stood out to me, and I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I did.

Johann Walter-Kurau, also known as Jānis Valters (Latvian) or Johann Walter, was a Latvian painter. He studied art at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg with Janis Rozentāls and Vilhelms Purvītis, and built up an oeuvre that ranged from the academic realism of the 1890s, through a style inspired by Impressionism and Expressionism, to the verge of abstraction with a peculiar non-objective vision of nature late in his career.

Lajos Deák Ébner(1850 - 1934)
Lajos Deák Ébner was a Hungarian painter.
Many of his paintings are realistic portrayals of life around Szolnok. From 1887 to 1922, he was head of the "Budapest School of Painting for Women" (Budapesti Női Festőiskola). In 1890, he and Károly Lotz painted frescoes at Tihany Abbey. From 1895 to 1899 he executed more frescoes at the Kunsthalle Budapest.

Francisco Díaz de León(1897 - 1975)
Francisco Díaz de León was a Mexican graphic artist, notable for pioneering much of modern Mexican graphic arts. He spent his childhood around books and when he studied art in Mexico City, he specialized in engraving and illustration. He spent his career illustrating books, magazines and more, reviving techniques such as dry point and introducing new techniques and styles such as the use of color and linoleum printing. He was also a noted arts education, directing several schools including the Escuela Mexicana de las Artes del Libro (now the Escuela Nacional de Artes Gráficas), which he founded. He was a founding member of the Academia de Artes and a member of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana. In 1969 he received the Premio Nacional de Artes for engraving.

Frederic Whitaker was an American designer, painter and author.
Whitaker was a member of the National Academy of Design, served seven years as president of the American Watercolor Society, and founded Audubon Artists, whose purpose is to speak for all aspects of the visual arts. He also served on numerous other boards and organizations. Whitaker also wrote two books and more than 90 articles on art-related topics.
