118012 I got 7/10, but I guessed on a number of them. :)
118012 There are 127 books for 1985 and I've read 2 for sure and there are 2 that I think that I've read (they were from series' that I read as a child). :) What a fun thing to look into!

Francine - any tips on how you managed it? Did you find it took long/a lot of extra time to catch up?"

It was a combination of a number of things - I re-read a couple of my favorite standbys, I marathon-ed through a 5 book middle-grade series and I just chose to read as opposed to watching TV. I did have a vacation in there as well, so I did have extra time on my hands. :)

Rebecca, that is amazing! How do you find the time to read all of those books?

118012 I'm currently at 10,517. I don't actually have a page goal for the year, but I'm looking forward to see how many I complete. :)

118012 I read 6 books in June. :)
Jul 09, 2014 10:06AM

118012 I just started Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

I never thought about it that way. That is a really good idea! There are definitely times when I get bogged down in certain books.

I had to smile, Roseanne, when I saw the combo that you're reading. Two books that are seemingly on both ends of the spectrum. :)

118012 Wow, I don't know how I missed this thread! I am getting ready to go on vacation and, being the book nerd that I am, the books that I'm going to bring are almost as important as everything else (clothes, toiletries, etc). I'm hoping to read a lot this summer, when I'm gone as well as when I come home.

1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte - I adore the 2006 BBC adaptation with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson and it's about time that I read the book!
2. Proxy by Alex London
3. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
4. Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
5. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
6. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
7. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
8. The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
9. Say Goodbye to Survival Mode by Crystal Paine

Well, that's as far as I'm going to go. I'm sure that I'll read more, but if I make the list too long I know that I'll panic and just give up. In certain instances, I find it best to aim a bit low and then I'll be pleasantly surprised when I'm an overachiever. :)

118012 Congrats. Keep up the good work and try to stay on the high ground from here on ..."

Thanks. That's my plan!

118012 I'm currently one book ahead (29 out of 60). :) I came back from being 9 books behind in mid-May.
Jun 19, 2014 08:55AM

118012 Most book to movie adaptations disappoint me. I've gotten to the point where I just have to see the movie as its own entity. Same name but different story. :) Most BBC adaptations - Pride and Prejudice, North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, etc. are quite accurate and I enjoy watching them but almost all of Agatha Christie's books that I've seen rendered on television are laughable. You shouldn't mess with success, people!

118012 11 in May!!

I'll say that you outdid yourself! Do you read one book at a time or are you working through a number of them at once?
