When Georgiana successfully elopes with Wickham, Darcy handles the situation and Wickham brilliantly but is tainted with scandal and is shunned by society including Lady Catherine and Caroline (Yay!). So, the Darcy coming to Hertfordshire is different and this leads to fewer misunderstandings between ODC.

Well Jeanne, I agree with you and Sam about Bingley and Georgiana. In that story all our villains got their way (Lady Catherine, Caroline, Wickham) except Collins (Is he even a villain?) But in the end ODC also got their way after all.

Sam, I don't remember it as being bad at all. We've the usual Lydia drama and all but Darcy and Elizabeth are older by 7 years not quite sure of the other's feelings. I do tend to forget much details but since I gave it 4 stars, I don't think there was much disturbing and didn't need a tissue either. May be, Jeanne remembers it differently?

Sorry for posting so late. I finished Out of Obscurity sometime ago and enjoyed it, though I feel the romance could've been better. Thanks for the recommendation.

My only (not really a) complaint being that this story reminded me too much of The Journey by Jan Hahn including the villain except the path to HEA was relatively shorter.

I felt Jane's HEA could've been more than just hinted at, after all it's her name in the title and poor Lydia was left hanging out to dry.

Darcy with a character transplant, thanks to Caroline and Elizabeth still manages to get annoyed at him. This Darcy is so sweet and vulnerable and of course, loveable by everyone.

Elizabeth and Darcy meet as children when Darcy is hiding from Lady Catherine who's trying to kidnap him (?) and of course, our Lizzy rescues him. Thus she enters Pemberley and meets the Darcy family. But I don't understand why this makes Mr. Darcy decide on a six year old for his future daughter-in-law. Anyway, our 12 year old Darcy promises to visit Elizabeth after she turns 20 and he does. Though portions of the story felt a bit unbelievable, like why would Darcy have a congenial relationship with his aunt who kidnapped him as a child, it was enjoyable. The last few chapters dealing with the next generation actually felt like an extended epilogue.
276. Hearts entwined https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14267327... 4 stars. A comparatively low angst story. Darcy is a second son in this and Anne Darcy is alive and very supportive. The chemistry between ODC is instant and no misunderstanding between them.
277. Regency Therapy https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... I didn't finish this book. Though it has Austen in the series name, the only connection is the resort in which the story takes place. The characters were shallow and immature and the story felt juvenile at best. The characters are authors in a writer's retreat but all they do are ogling, flirting, double and triple daring like they are in high school. I did read around 40% of the book but couldn't cook up enough curiosity to get to the end.
278. Legally Darcy: A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... 3 stars. It's a modern retelling as the title proclaims but the author was not very successful in the adaptation portion of the story so that some of it felt unnatural for a modern variation.

Then, you will be able to enjoy this story with a very sweet Darcy, I'm not very sure about Elizabeth. The story is that Mrs. Bennet has instilled the fear of hedgerows in her daughters very well that when Jane falls ill at Netherfield instead of seducing Bingley into matrimony, Elizabeth agrees to go in her stead to compromise Darcy. But the Darcy she meets there gives her second thoughts about her scheme. Caroline was at her best villainy in this.
