Does not sound like my thing at all. Thanks for the link.60. Whispers and Wishes by Heather Long.
3 stars. I kept forgetting I was reading this. It is a sweet book though.
On TBR since tbc
59. The Map of Love by Ahdaf Soueif.5 stars. I read this 20 odd years ago and really enjoyed it. I read it now and I adored it. Just gets better on a reread.
On TBR since I acquired a second copy last year. I believe my original copy is still at my parents' house.
58. If You Don't Love Me, We Both Die by C.M. Stunich.4 stars. Weird but enjoyable. Still don't know what a boba is though.
On Kindle TBR since tbc
57. Byzantium: The Surprising Life of a Medieval Empire by Judith Herrin.4 stars. Intriguingly told with different themes mixed in with the main events.
On TBR since before 2015.
57. Byzantium: The Surprising Life of a Medieval Empire by Judith Herrin.4 stars. Intriguingly told with different themes mixed in with the main events.
On TBR since before 2015.
56. Bella Poldark by Winston Graham.4 stars. A little long winded at the beginning but I care about these characters so much. I cannot believe I have finished the series.
On TBR for several years.
55. The Elegy of Lady Fiammetta by Giovanni Boccaccio. Translated by Mariangela Causa-Steindler and Thomas Mauch.4 stars. So happy to have read this at last.
On TBR since 21/01/2018.
54. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black.4 stars. This is a reread. I read a library copy when it first came out but later acquired a Kindle copy. I loved the descriptions of the world and the court but I still do not feel particularly drawn to Jude. However, I have thought about the book since the last time I read it and feel it deserves more than the 3 stars I originally gave it.
On Kindle TBR 03/12/2019.
53. The Unseelie Prince by Kathryn Ann Kingsley.5 stars. Weird. For labyrinth fans.
On Kindle TBR since 03/12/2022.
51. West Side Love Story by Priscilla Oliveras.3 stars. Nice concept but it did not fully work for me.
On Kindle TBR since 02/05/2022.
50. Getting Rid of Bradley by Jennifer Crusie.4 stars. Somehow forgot to add this earlier. I read the book in July. Entertaining read but not as good as Fast Women.
On TBR since approx 10/10/2021.
49. Silent Hostage by Sarah Gainham.4 stars. Old fashioned but enjoyable. Somehow missed this off this list earlier in the year.
On TBR since approx 10/10/2021
48. Carte Blanche by Carlo Lucarelli.3 stars. Reads like an older American hardboiled crime novel. Interesting and I liked the end.
On TBR since approx 28/06/2018
47. The Cat that Lived on Park Avenue by Tracy Sinclair.3 stars. Good fun. Nice to read a romance book that does not have billionaires in it.
On TBR since I will have to check.
46. The Twisted Sword by Winston Graham.4 stars. This is one of the strongest books in the series.
On TBR since my dad gave it to me a few years ago.
45. The Little Drummer Girl by John Le Carre.4 stars. Complex and absorbing thriller.
On TBR for a few years as I bought it for my dad when the BBC adaptation came out and gave it back to me.
44. Remembrance by Jude Deveraux.3 stars. I enjoyed the Edwardian and modern sections more than I expected but the book took a detour into the Elizabethan period and was far too long and a bit silly.
On TBR since 2024?
43. Life. the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams.4 stars. Loved the little Marvin cameo. The whole book was funnier than I remembered it.
On TBR since my partner bought it for me last year. I had read it before.
42. A Catch of Consequence by Diana Norman.4 stars. I have read this before but only remembered the beginning. It goes off in a completely different direction.
On TBR since approx 21/11/2021.
