133888 We have announced the next official readathon date. We will be reading on April 18-19, 2026. This will be our standard readathon format, so we start at 8am Eastern Time on April 18 and finish at 8am April 19th.
We may also do an unofficial holiday readathon, so stay tuned for that, but it will be a much more casual unofficial thing if we can make it work.

133888 We are looking for a couple new admins for Goodreads to help us out here. Ideally admins for our Goodreads should be able to join our facebook admins chat so they can participate in discussions like when the next readathon will be, how we organize activities like bingo and photo challenges across of many sites, etc. It would be a huge plus if we also had a couple admins who are awake during the hours that are the middle of the night for the US, so we would be thrilled to recruit some admins with strong English skills in Europe or Australia/NZ. If you are interested, message me, Avid, or Cynda.

133888 We're closing in on the last hour of our official readathon. What are you reading for this final hour-long sprint?
Oct 19, 2025 03:28AM

133888 1. How did your Readathon go overall? What were the highlights for you? Disappointments? Things you might do differently next time?
2. Are you continuing to read for the rest of the weekend?
3. How many books have you read in this Readathon? How many have you finished? Which was your favorite?
4. Do you plan to do other reading events or readathons between now and October 18th (our next Readathon)?
5. Have you added any tempting books to your TBR during this Readathon?

133888 I am at about 50% in Corduroy Mansions, so I'm sticking with that for hour 20.

133888 We've hit that part of the readathon when most of the US is asleep and much of Europe is just waking up. Being on social media during this time always reminds me of walking through a big city late at night when the streets are oddly empty and everything is eerily quiet. And here we are, still reading.
We are about to enter Hour 20, and our next hour-long reading sprint. So, what are you reading for this one?

133888 Finished Killing Crazy Horse: The Merciless Indian Wars in America, by Bill O'Reilly. Another really good history book in this series. Accurate, well researched, and good storytelling, this time dealing with one of the uglier chapters in US history. I'm still rather impressed by this series, and am not surprised that it is popular. 5 stars.

133888 I'm starting Corduroy Mansions, by Alexander McCall Smith for this one.

133888 How are we already at hour 16? Are you getting tired yet? Do you have any strategies you have started to use to pace yourself now that we are solidly in the second half of the readathon?

I am starting to switch to specific books for sprints, so I'll be picking a new book to start for this Hour 16 sprint. What are you reading for this one?
Oct 18, 2025 04:21PM

133888 I am about 1/3 through with Killing Crazy Horse: The Merciless Indian Wars in America, by Bill O'Reilly. I have it in print, but am using a library audiobook so I can also have lunch in this sprint.

133888 We are heading into Hour 12 already. How is your readathon going? Have you finished any books yet? Need to try something different?
Grab a book you want to focus on for the next hour, and we'll dive into our next hour-long sprint at the top of the hour. What are you reading?
Oct 18, 2025 03:28PM

133888 1. How is your Readathon going? Have you finished 12 hours of reading so far?
2. Have you eaten real food yet in the past 12 hours? How much water have you drunk so far in the past 12 hours? (Maybe drink some water now just on principle...)
3.Are you doing a Bingo board or other specific challenge during this Readathon? How is that going so far?
4. Have you finished any books so far in this half of the Readathon?
5. Are you on track to finish what you want to this weekend? What are your plans for the next 12 hours?

133888 The Colors of All the Cattle, by Alexander McCall Smith. Book 19 in the series. I find some of the regular characters in this series really annoying, but the stories are good enough. I do wish this one ended differently, but it is still ~4 stars for me. Good book, but best read in order with its series.

133888 What book have you finished during this readathon? Did you like it? Would you recommend it? What books does it remind you of (if you like ___ you might also like ___ )?
Oct 18, 2025 09:14AM

133888 I decided to stick with my audiobook for this one, so I am almost done with it. So, The Colors of All the Cattle will be my first finished book this readathon.

133888 Avid Reader and Geek Girl wrote: "So sorry i wasted able to do hour 2, we had a rough night here last night."

No worries. We'll have some gaps later in the day, so if you see an open hour and want to post a question for it, go for it. That's what I usually do as we get to the open slots, though I usually get a few late adds to our co-mods schedule too.
