We're starting in on the next chunk of Sinner this week: ch. 24 - ch. 41!Before diving in, we're dying to hear your thoughts about everything up to this point! What do you think about Jeremy? We loved the scene where Cole shows up at Jeremy's new band practice and has the run-in with Chad.
How about Sofia and Isabel's relationship? It's clear that Sofia really looks up to Isabel (even when she's being cruel), but we think that Isabel could learn something from Sofia, too. Do you agree?
And what have you thought about Cole's "stunts" for Baby so far? Would you watch that reality show? (We totally would...)
Also, page 81. And 118. And 136. *SWOON*
We love that you guys are such speed readers! For the benefit of anyone who may NOT have pre-ordered or bought the book right on release day, here's our reading/discussion schedule going forward:Today - 7/13: through chapter 23
7/14 - 7/20: through chapter 41
7/21 - 7/28: through the end of the book!
For those of you who read this weekend: There are so many things that we're already loving about this book. Cole and Isabel are such pointy, angry characters, and we love seeing them come together and push each other away again. Some of our favorite moments so far:
- "What's the next meal?"
- House of Dismay and Ruin
- Cole and Leon
Do you have any favorite quotes or moments so far?
What were your first thoughts when you found out Cole would be doing a reality TV show? What did you think about his auditions?
And what do you think about some of the new characters, like Leon and Sofia?
Can't wait to see what happens next!

It's finally here! We couldn't be more excited to officially welcome
Sinner
by Maggie Stiefvater into the world! This companion to the Shiver trilogy will follow Cole and Isabel through Los Angeles. We'll be reading the book throughout the month, talking about our favorite moments; falling in love with Isabel's snark and Cole's, well... Cole-ness, all over again; and just enjoying the ride that is a Maggie Stiefvater novel.
We hope you'll join us! We can't wait to dive into this book and hear what you think.
(Since we're ALL first-time readers here, please be sure to note any spoilers!)
Happy reading!
We're finishing up Forever today, and OMG guys, there is SO much to talk about in these last pages! What were you thinking during the scene in which Beck shifts? (We started crying as soon as he said, "And please forget all about me...")
How about the decision to let Rachel and Koenig in on the wolves' secret? (We always knew Koenig was a good guy at heart.)
And Grace and Sam finally reuniting as wolves? (Loved it!)
Ok, and "Da."?? (Best plot twist!)
What are some of your other favorite final moments from Forever? Here's what our books look like after this month - who else marked their favorite lines/parts?
Sarah wrote: "It's weird that this was put on here. I decided on a re-read last week & re-read Shiver & Linger I'm now on Forever. Perfect timing I guess =)"Hooray! What perfect timing - glad you could join the celebration with us!
You've all referenced SO MANY great Cole/Isabel moments! We just got to the part in Forever when Sam and Cole find Grace in the sinkhole and have to rescue her. One aspect of Forever that we're really enjoying is how Maggie is getting more in-depth with the pack dynamics of the wolves. Why do you think Shelby still has it out for Grace?
And what were you thinking during the rescue scene? We love how Sam and Cole are finally able to make peace a little bit. As Sam says, "how long it takes us, each day, to know each other."
It's also a pivotal moment for Cole, as he finally realizes: "I had never really considered that it was a privilege to die as Cole and not as something else."
Who or what do you think are the biggest influences on Cole's path back toward wanting to live? Have you always been rooting for him?
Hey guys! Welcome to all the new group members! Feel free to jump right in at whatever stage you are in the re-read, or first read for that matter! We're hopping over to this board today to start talking about Forever, but feel free to keep chatting on this board, as well as our Welcome board and the Shiver Re-read board!
Leanne wrote: "When I read Maggie, I don't think on it too much. Like lifting your feet up and letting the current take you. Trusting the journey will be a wild one, and knowing the scenery will be stunning. I ju..."LOVE this description of how you read Maggie's books!
Renée wrote: "Also, I made a book trailer for shiver if anyone wants to see it. I made it a few years ago, and I can see ways I could definitely improve, but it won a competition and I still like it. :Dhttps://..."
So cool!! If anyone else has created any type of fan art for the series, we'd love to see it!
We're starting Forever today and can't wait to find out (again) what happens to all our favorite characters! One of our favorite aspects of this book is the development of Cole and Isabel's relationship. They're both such sharp, angry characters, and we can't get enough of their back-and-forth. Or, sometimes, total avoidance of each other. Do you have any favorite Cole/Isabel moments from Forever?
As a reminder, Sinner comes out in ONE WEEK! Grace and Sam's story ends in Forever, but Cole and Isabel continue in Maggie's latest book.
We've also got a great giveaway of 10 copies of Forever here! (US only, though Scholastic Canada will likely be posting a giveaway soon!)
Leanne wrote: "These books are so incredible. I'm appreciating that fact more than I did the first time I read them. I still remember the day I was introduced to them: I mentioned to the bookstore owner that I lo..."Love that you did all the temperature conversions AND that you have a Rilke-themed tattoo! So cool!
We're finishing up Linger today and (very, very quickly) moving on to Forever because we just have to know what happens to Grace!! (And Olivia, Sam, Cole, and Isabel...)
The first time you read Linger, did you hypothesize about causes/cures for the wolves? Or did you sit back to see where Maggie took things?
SteviBookLover wrote: "Scholastic wrote: "What did you guys think when Sam was kicked out of Grace's room? Can you sympathize with Grace being upset with her parents? On a side note, had any of you read Rilke's poetry ..."
We were so worried about her, too!
OK, real talk: What was everyone's reaction when (view spoiler)
What did you guys think when Sam was kicked out of Grace's room? Can you sympathize with Grace being upset with her parents? On a side note, had any of you read Rilke's poetry before this book?
Amy wrote: "I just finished it for the first time about ten days ago. My favorite part was Cole's ego realizing his base audience was tweens, not women."
Cole's ego in general is definitely one of our favorite parts of the series. We always loved Cole and Isabel's interactions, but we forgot just how funny it is the first time they meet! Why do you guys think they connect so quickly? And what are some of your favorite Cole/Isabel moments?
We're giving away 10 copies of the new paperback version of Linger starting today! Enter the giveaway here!
We finished up Shiver this weekend - what did you guys think of the ending? Can you understand why Olivia made her decision? And what do you think of Isabel as a friend? We're going to start our re-read of Linger today over here, so hop on over to talk book 2 with us, but feel free to keep talking Shiver on this board!
