the special protag with powers™ as this insane amount of control as a child and when they use it again like a few years later ( bc they always like 12 or sth ) they're absolutely shit
it doesn't make sense to me
like okay you've been using these powers experimentally
you might have a very simple understanding of what you can do and you're kinda good bc your view is simple
but to deteriorate that much???
and if they are good as kids to be so good they can like master spells?
nah
they prolly had as many failures as they did when they learned those basic skills
they have been more scared by them or were less afraid to make those mistakes as kids
but the whole nonsense plot points they usually have gets on my nerves
