153021 1. The right to not read: detective novels with grim descriptions or anything involving treating children or animals badly

2. The right to skip pages: boring introductions, the "begats" in the Bible

3 The right to not finish: if I don't like any of the characters and wish they would all disappear; pretentious authors who use complicated language to show off their extensive vocabulary; non-fiction with a biassed viewpoint; boring

4. The right to reread: favourite comfort reads, childhood favourites, vintage mysteries

5. The right of read anything: children's books, comfort reads, fairy tales

6.The right to escapism: vintage mystery and science fiction, older children's and vintage fiction, and anything by P. G. Wodehouse

7. The right to read anywhere: I've got an extensive library on my ipad and iphone so that I can read anywhere, except on the bus. It's too bumpy.

8. The right to browse: mostly on the library website. The Toronto Public Library has 100 branches and is one of the biggest in North America. And Libby is great too. Plus my ipad has Apple books and classics are very inexpensive, or free.

9. The right to read out loud: I did this a lot when my grandson was little, especially Go, Dog. Go! by P.D. Eastman. He's 14 now!

10. The right to not defend your tastes: I've often liked books other people didn't, and vice-versa. It's really hard to explain why you don't love someone else's favourite, so I only read recommendations from my daughters. They know I have weird taste sometimes.

153021 Sieben Legenden/Seven Legends by Gottfried Keller
A Swiss classic from the 19th century. I've read a number of books by this author and felt like reading some short tales. I rated the book 4 stars.

153021 I enjoyed this as well. It has an unsensational quiet way of grabbing your interest. The detached style works since it suits Ish's observant personality.
