Whew. I've got a few books to add.Alif the Unseen by G. Willow Wilson was good, but I wouldn't say action-packed.
Destroyer by Chris Fox was fun and action-packed. This one is going up on the group shelf.
I liked The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North, but it wasn't action-packed.
Morning Star by Pierce Brown was unadulterated action, through and through. I had my problems with it, but there's no denying that this is an action-packed book.
The Builders by Daniel Polansky is action-packed and hilarious. The ending left something to be desired, but the journey was fun.
Slow Getting Up: A Story of NFL Survival from the Bottom of the Pile by Nate Jackson isn't super-action-packed, but it's an autobiography of sorts, so there's that.
Brandon Sanderson does it again in The Bands of Mourning, an action-packed book that's great fun to read.
Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey was action-packed... I think. I'm trying to remember now, it's been a bit since I read it. I'm going to go with action-packed.
I don't think Chris Fox knows how to write action-free books, thank goodness. Vampires Don't Sparkle is a great addition to the No Such Thing as Werewolves series. Plenty of action, fun book to boot.
Okay, I finished Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. Not an action-packed book.I also read NPCs by Drew Hayes. Definitely had some action in it, and I liked it.
Loved Shadows of Self by Brandon Sanderson, and it had a great amount of action in it. Maybe not as much as Alloy, though. Hmm.
Also read Super Nobody by Brent Meske. Not a ton of action, and kind of weird.
Unlike literally everyone else in the world, I didn't care for The Martian too much. It just wasn't as suspenseful as everyone makes it out to be for me.I read Time Salvager by Wesley Chu and enjoyed it, but with some reservations. I'd recommend it, though. It had enough good action for me.
Kind of have a laundry list to put up here:Finished The Dinosaur Lords, Armada, You're Never Weird on the Internet, and Crooked.
Dino Lords had some action but was not action-packed.
Armada was action-packed, and I liked it more than Ready Player One.
You're Never Weird on the Internet was a memoir, so obviously no action there.
And Crooked had almost no action to speak of, but was a very good book in terms of relationships and characters.
So of those, Armada was the most action-packed.
I'm about to start The Martian and Seven Wonders. And Brandon Sanderson's new novel is almost here, Shadows of Self. Very excited for that one.
Evil Genius was not action-packed at all, and I didn't care for it beside that.I'm in the middle of The Dinosaur Lords and Crooked, and I've got high hopes for each.
I finished Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal and No Mere Zombie.Ms. Marvel was good, but I wish I knew her power set before going in. I'm glad for the representation in the comic.
No Mere Zombie was good, too, and definitely action-packed. I listened to it, so it took me a while to finish, but it's a fast read that I enjoyed.
I love fast-paced books, and I love sci-fi and fantasy, so mixing those two things with action is just the best. And I did read The Da Vinci Code, and Angels and Demons. Great pacing.
I just finished No Such Thing as Werewolves by Chris Fox, and it was pretty good. I'm wavering on whether or not it was action-packed enough for this group... but I think I'll add it.I'm excited for the sequel.
Wow, we have a ton of new members. Glad to have you all and I'm excited to see what y'all are reading. I'm always on the lookout for the next good book.
I do like comics, although I don't read them as much as I used to. Thanks for the recommendations, and I can't wait to see what books you recommend.
Finished Orconomics, and what a great read. Not as much action that I would include it in this group's bookshelf, but I still highly recommend it.
I'm still in Batman: NML, and I just started Orconomics: A Satire (it's our local book club pick, my nomination).
Glad you're here, hopefully we can keep this group active so we all find some more action-packed books.
I finished Grace of Kings. It started slow, but wound up to a big finish. However, as it wasn't action-packed all the time, I'll leave it off the group shelf.I'm now reading Batman: No Man's Land, and I'm very hopeful for some good action.
And I just finished Golden Son. Another book of action scene after action scene. And I definitely recommend it much more than the first, Red Rising. What a book. What a page-turner.
