I read the book in 2018 and gave it 5 stars. I agree: Adult Fantasy starring a young adult protagonist.

Finished The Traitor Baru Cormorant. Game of Thrones is an obvious influence. Ends with a big "To be continued......"

Just started Dark Orbit. I am really liking it so far!

I saw Dark Orbit at the library today so I checked it out and began reading. I'm liking it so far :)

I read this 2 years ago. McKillip's novels are fantastic!

I read this last February. I like Robert Charles Wilson's writing. This was not his best one. (But even "not his best one" is better than most science fiction being written today!)

Finished Bathing the Lion -- very surreal, very different from what I usually read (and I usually read sf/f!)

Now reading: The Handmaid's Tale

Currently reading: Bathing the Lion by Jonathan Carroll.

Agree with you Christine on Annihilation. I gave it 1 star even though I finished it. I really liked The Last Policeman, so Enjoy!

I've finished The Lies of Locke Lamora. I gave it 5 stars, really 4.5 stars. I'll read the sequel sometime.

I'm thinking about starting Heart of Iron. I've had this book here for awhile. Now that I know better who the Decembrists were in *real life*, I can appreciate an alternate history where they won their confrontation. (In real life, the "Decembrists" wound up in Siberia.)

I'm going to be contrarian and say that I didn't care for this novel. There was a lot of description of reactions to events, without ever really telling the reader about the events that the characters were reacting to. Maybe there is enough information embedded in the novel to clue in some readers about the events; not enough information for ME to figure out what is going on. I've decided not to continue with the trilogy.

Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time series --- poor guy literally died before finishing the series) and George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones fame --- book #3 of series -- wait 5 years -- book #4 of series -- wait SIX years -- book #5 of series (2011) --- wait ???? and book #6 will appear ................)
