Hi, Joe! Welcome to the group.

I noticed you are from Buffalo. My nephew is a student at SUNY-Buffalo dental school. (I've never been to Buffalo, but I served my mission in New Jersey, so if you have been there for a while, we were neighbors about 30 years ago.)

3218 Hi, Brooke (or River). Welcome to the group!

I am a musician, and I know the power of music. I hope you choose to listen to music that lifts your spirit, and I hope you find books here to help supplement your growth!

3218 Hi, Derek, thanks for your post! (And my apologies for not seeing it sooner.)

Good luck with your book. I love to read about other people's positive experiences with The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and your work with your brother appears to be a great commentary!

3218 Sounds like I need to move it up to the top of my list!

3218 There is a sequel to "The Other Side of Heaven" coming out soon. Many of the stories from John Groberg's mission can be found in these two books (I've read both). Some of the movies portrayals are embellished for the movie or combined.

Elder Groberg (an emeritus general authority) raised his children near his wife and me, and we went to school with one of his daughters.

3218 Thanks for the input, Diane! Let us know how those books are - both are on my radar.

For others who might want to try that app, I saw ads between conference sessions for a 30-day free trial.

3218 Yeah, that's my problem, too - I've downloaded a lot of books but only read them a few minutes at a time, usually while waiting for meetings to begin.

3218 I recently started to read the book below, and it's great, but what I really wanted to plug/discuss is the Deseret Book app. For all the free books to download (eBooks and audio books) for the $10.74 (after tax) monthly charge, I consider it well worth it.

Anyone else like/hate that app?

Here is the book:

3218 OK, enough about me on this thread (other than I am about to tell you of a book I read by an apostle).

This was a great book, and it also was a great way to get to know Elder Ronald A. Rasband:

3218 I enjoy John Bytheway, both his books and his audio talks and videos. He has a great way of distilling things to a simple-but-profound level that gospel learners of all levels can enjoy. I haven't read that one, but it's on my list!

I haven't read the other book, either, but I read "The Crucible of Doubt" by them a few years back and enjoyed it.

Thanks for sharing, Diane!

3218 That's probably what I'll go with unless anyone wants to object in the next few days.

I like that!

Anybody else want to make a suggestion before we change to that?

3218 In light of President Nelson's talk about the name of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I think it is only fitting to rename this group. Does anyone have any suggestions?

3218 Since my last post, I was able to meet Elder Quentin L. Cook. He was in the same graduating class with my mother, and I met him at my father's viewing. (Not such a happy occasion, but it was great to meet him briefly).

My wife cleans a house near where Elder Bednar lives, and she said that he smiles and waves and is a friendly guy when she drives past, just working in his yard like the rest of us.
