I'm your captain, Kelly. Please give us a few sentences about yourself, your favorite and least favorite genres if you'd like, and some suggestions for team names. I'm excited to learn about each of you!
About me:
I'm Kelly (she/her) and I live in Seattle with friends and my 15-year-old dog Cupcake. In addition to reading, I love sewing and crafts, word games and I captain a trivia team. My funny, smart and kind granddaughter means everything to me and I'm obsessed with dogs.
My favorite genres/themes/tropes are M/M romance, paranormal/urban fantasy, thriller/suspense, and mystery. I'm gung ho about hospital scenes or bedside vigils (put those MCs through through the ringer!), dogs, and nerds/geeks. I'm not so big on: kink, YA, contemporary w/o a real plot, sports and inappropriate relationships.
I don't have any suggestions for team names at this point. I'm interested in seeing what you come up with!

• Always post here in this thread if you have any questions. It's better to ask something obvious than have something go wrong (although mistakes happen to everyone).
• We'll keep track of all books in the spreadsheet. No post required. If you are uncomfortable with spreadsheets, you can post and someone will transfer it to the spreadsheet for you.
• Please check in at least once a week. It's a rule but we love to get to know our team members!
• Read the challenge rules carefully and post here if you have any questions. The captains will do our best to answer and we'll ask other captains if we're not sure.
• Make sure you're getting notifications by clicking in the box and the bottom of the topic, and ask here when in doubt.
• Please add the books you've read to your challenge shelf when you've finished them. As captains, we have to verify your books, and this really helps us.
• Please remember only one book per teammate is required to fit the weekly category but you can read as many books as you want up to your cap for the round. It would be great if you could at least read your goal. The rounds are two weeks long. This info is on the Dashboard tab in the spreadsheet.
Spell out rules
◈ book / series title*
◈ author first/last name
◈ FICTION ONLY: main character(s) name**
◈ If listening to the audio book: audio narrator first/last name
◈ If you are reading a translation: translator first/last name
* if the first word in the title/series is a definite or indefinite article you can ignore them if you prefer
** characters must be significant to the plot. you can use first, last or nickname.

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to meet you all and play this challenge together!
I like to start important post with either "everyone" or your name in bold so it's easy to discern what you need to read from chatter. Chatter is fun, though!
Even if you've played before, please take the time to read the intro posts above. There are some things it would be helpful for you to know.

I wish I'd had an e-reader when I used to take month-long trips. Although charging them would be hard in some of the out of the way places I got to go. But the books on the hostels "free" shelves were mostly bodice-ripper romances which are not my thing. So I bought books and carried them with me. I think they weighed almost as much as my clothes! :)

We also have some used bookstores but not nearly as many now that there are so many online and most sell through Amazon or Better World Books. The brick and mortar ones, though, also buy books and generally you can get book credit or half as much in cash. You don't get much, though. I just love perusing used bookstores. The two big ones nearby sell both new and used books so they do better.
I think it's amazing that a government would get involved in that kind of literacy program!

I, too, have access to three libraries which helps a lot. I don't even look in the regular library catalog, just online, so I stream or download all my audiobooks. I also have an audible subscription for the stuff my library doesn't have. That gets pricey though.

Anyway, while she's here I'm reading a lost less.
