35559 There's A LOT of things going on with mini's this year as it's an anniversary year. If you aren't sure where best to put something, give some options and one of the captains will place it on a mini.

I would put priority on Brown, Road Trip, and Mobile right now as those have completion bonuses and Genre and Color do not.

However, Genre and Color are good options if you have trouble finding a home for your book on a mini. Those are great catch all minis.

Try not to get overwhelmed and please ask any questions you may have. Catherine is on a cruise right now and will pop in when/if she can but will be back on Oct 12. Until then y'all are stuck with Lexi and me :)

35559 Alright team, here is the tracking sheet. I will also add the link up above so it's easy to find later.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

The only tabs you'll really need to worry about is the Books tab. Most of the information you'll enter goes here. The other tabs auto populate based on formulas.

I've entered a few books to start so people can see examples.

If you participate in a BOM discussion, the info goes on the BOM tab.

Everyone does have a book cap per round, so if you are going to go over your limit, it's better to count longer ones instead of the shorter ones because points. Unless it's for a tricky mini challenge task.

What we can do as well is add a tab for extra books where people can log books they aren't sure about using because of length or whatever, but if they haven't hit their cap by the end of the round, we can move some over.

Izzy Out of Sorts to The Book of Doors Discovered

9. If you could talk to anyone from your past, would you? Who would it be?

My grandparents. My mother, my mother in law. All people I miss dearly who I'd like to talk to one more time. And then one more time again. Tell them all about my son, get advice. Etc. I miss them.

10. With more information about what happened to Drummond and his friends but also what happened to Izzy after she woke up, did it change your answer to DQ#8?
No, not really. He should of explained himself first and then let her make the choice. She's a grown woman, capable of weighing risks and making choices for her own safety.

11. What did you think of Lund and The Bookseller?
Interesting characters, kind of wish we'd seen more of them. Hopefully they'll pop up again. I'm assuming there'll be an auction at least.

12. Was Cassie trapped in the past longer than you expected? Did it make some things that happened in the beginning make sense?
I didn't expect it to be the full ten years but somehow that was more believable than her just magically finding the book of doors and getting back after like a few months or a year. And it made some of the seemingly random things early on be not so random.

13. Now that we are about 2/3 through the book, predictions?
The auction is likely going to go very pear shaped and THE WOMAN, is going to cause some serious problems. Other than that no guesses.

35559 As everyone checks in, please double check your challenge shelf I have linked in message 3 above.

A few of you I wasn't sure about the shelf name, please link your shelf in the thread and I'll get it added above.

35559 Hello members of Team Garden Route (in South Africa)!

Most of you are familiar from around the challenge circuit, but for those that don't know me I'm Judith and captain of the team for wheeling around the world! I'm also one of the moderators of this group and partially responsible for this crazy challenge.

I hope everyone is looking forward to a fun few months together!

Over the next couple days Lexi, Catherine (when she's back from her cruise) and I will be getting everything sorted and ready to go for the start of Wheels on Saturday, including a tracking sheet. But since we seemed to be ready, we figured we'd leave the thread open and let people start to check in.

We have a several mini challenges happening, some which run the length of the challenge, so don't forget to check those out as well. This is the 10th Wheel-a-thon NBRC has done so the minis look back on each of those wheels gone by.

Happy Reading everyone!

6. Are you more like Cassie- adventurous and a risk taker or Izzy, more careful and think things through?

More of an Izzy than a Cassie, but I do love a good adventure. But I need a plan first. LOL

7. What are your thoughts on "The Woman" now hearing more of her story.
Bat crap crazy is a good summation. Hopefully it doesn't tip into cornball Big Bad caricature, I feel like her character is teetering on that edge.

8. Drummond Fox has the Book of Memories and it is often used more to forget than to remember something. Can you pinpoint anything in your life you would willingly forget on purpose? Cassie is now on this adventure on her own because Drummond made Izzy forget the Book of Doors but Cassie was now able to see the Library. Was the trade off worth it?
No, and I agree with Cat that taking away someone's autonomy is never good. I really didn't like that he just did it without asking. I don't care about his reasons. You just don't do that.

35559 DQ'S - DAY 1 START - BOOK PEOPLE

1. "This is the Book of Doors Hold it in your hand and any door is every door"
If you could open a door to anywhere, where would you go?

I would say I would use it to travel the world, because imagine the cost savings! But the whole part where you have to be able to visualize the door would make it problematic to open doors to places you've never gone before.

2. The first page of the novel starts with this lovely sentence - so true for book lovers.
"I've read it before but as I get older, I find comfort in re-reading favourites. It's like spending time with old friends." - Mr Webber
Does this ring true for you? What is your favourite comfort read?
PS - Have you read The Count of Monte Cristo? If you have do you agree or disagree with Cassie's opinion?

I do agree with this though I rarely reread books. My brother does it frequently or at least used to. But I tend to just want to read all the wonderful new books I haven't had a chance to read yet. I have read Ilona Andrews books more than once. Their books and characters are interesting and I feel like I pick up new tidbits every time I reread one of their books.

3. After Cassie's and Izzy's first outing with the Book, despite Cassie's delight it seems that Izzy's reservations are valid. Can you see the positive and negative aspects of owning the books - So far other than the Book of Doors, the Books of Pain, Shadow, Memories, Illusions and Luck have been revealed. If you could own one book which one would it be? Which one wouldn't you touch with a ten foot pole!
The Book of Pain sounds a bit scary. Maybe the book of Luck or doors? Both of those sound fairly useful to have.

4. Everyone seems terrified of the mysterious Woman? Who do you think she is and why is her name capitalized?
I'm assuming she's the big bad in the story. Like He Who Shall Not Be Named or whatever. Hopefully it doesn't turn out too cornball.

5. Cassie goes to Mr Webber's apartment to get some answers.
"Why did you give me the book Mr Webber" she asked the room "and where did you get it. What is the secret behind it?"
These are the "64 million dollars questions"!! Do you have any theories or is it too early in the story to come to any conclusions?

I'm just going with it for the most part. I agree they all used to be in one Library until something happened to make them scatter. I wonder if way back you could actually check them out to be used? That would be a fun library. LOL. Other than that I'm not thinking too hard about it and just letting the story play out.

35559 Of course! This is completely self directed so start a thread and hunt away!

And feel free to use any of the wheels, there’s a fair few now to choose from

Happy Hunting (and reading) 🙂
35559 I was selective and specific with the version I linked for that reason. I chose one that was 300pgs and on KU.

I struggled with finding something for this one
