Great tips! Thank you all for sharing those. Anna, my problem is that my daytime job doesn't allow me any writing time during the week, but I get the spirit of what you're saying: for me it would be a return to my sacrosanct Saturday "writing day" when everyone in the family knows not to disturb me!Lauren I appreciate your idea too: I do actually have the makings of a novella which would make a good starting point along the lines you suggest. That also ties in with what you said, Lara.
Many thanks! You've encouraged me to make a start. Lara, I wish you success getting back into your writing as well.
The Lord bless and inspire all our typing fingers!
Thanks Anna. If anyone has any tips on how to get back into the flow of writing after a year's absence, I'm all ears!
Hi all. "Tired and busy" describes it! I've had a year-long sabbatical from writing and promoting, but am keen to get back into it, other interruptions permitting. Hope to see more of you all in future!
The Amazon UK approval for my review of The Alchemist's Portal came through pretty fast! Here's the link:https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/RLP0S....
Hey guys, very belatedly, here's my review of Kim Acco's The Alchemist's Portal:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
I'll add the Amazon UK link as soon as it's approved.
A fascinating story!
OK, thanks for accepting my comments! They were intended entirely positively, and I honestly think the book and series might get a better response if a lower age group were specifically targeted. But I did thoroughly enjoy the story!I now have the Amazon UK review link (sorry I can't post on Amazon US): https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/RQLE3....
I've just completed my review of Nicole's Tales of Elhaanai — sorry it's a week beyond the deadline! Here's the Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
I'll post the Amazon UK link as soon as the review's approved.
Great story, Nicole! See the review for further comments…
Fantastic, congrats! Great cover. I look forward to getting the Kindle edition when it's ready. Will you let us know?
Hey guys, I meant to come in on this much earlier and thought I'd lost my chance! But it looks like you’re still needing participants — so please add me, and my book The Strongholder.
Hey guys, thanks so much for these helpful suggestions. (Sorry for the delay in responding, life happened!)I'll definitely follow up on Self-Publishing Hero, though a lot will depend on cost: "less than $1,000" sounds uncomfortably close to $1,000 — which may be more than I can manage. But it's certainly one of the best-sounding programs I've come across, so I'll check it out and see what's possible.
I appreciate your telling us about it!
Hey people, I’m wondering whether any of you have used a professional book promotion service? (One that offers more than reviews.) If so, how did they do? Were they worth the money?I’m hoping to get some feedback before possibly venturing down this route!
I can wholeheartedly recommend this book and the series. If you don't have it yet, grab this opportunity with both hands!
Daniel wrote: "Thanks Stan. That's worth bearing in mind. I have written a lot scenes where they are investigating different potions/drafts and I have tried my best to give it a Christian slant. "tincture." maybe a word outside of my target age of 11-14."I must say I like "tincture" better than "draft"! It has a suitably arcane ring to it, as well as the suggestion of something health-giving in a 'scientific' medicinal way. You'd be a better judge, but if you include a brief explanation when you first introduce the word, I'd have thought it wouldn't be too far beyond 11–14 year-olds…
It was well deserved, Andrew! Any plans for a Lafrey sequel?? I hope so!You may already have seen that the Amazon UK review is now live:
