HR : October 11 | Read the FOURTH book on your to-read shelf that is set in winter; tell us when

Feint of Art, by Hailey Lind
Going with another first-in-series book to see if I want to keep it on my list or move on to something else.

Stony the Road: Reconstruction, White Supremacy, and the Rise of Jim Crow works nicely for the task asking for a book about racism.

That is correct! You've said that you want to keep playing, so I've assigned you a word and you're ready to start reading and guessing your next word :)

I would love to play."
Welcome to the game, Kathy! Sorry, but the book you listed can't be counted - you had to wait until I assigned a (secret) word to you before you start reading and guessing. Otherwise, your guess might somehow influence the word chosen for you.
That said, I've assigned a word to you now, so you're good to start reading and guessing. Have fun :)

Besides the correctly placed I, there is an N in your word, and the first one is in the correct position.

There is an I and an L in your word. The L is in the correction position, but the I is not.

✔ 23. Ruth Galloway #3.
The House at Sea's End | Elly Griffiths ★★ (06/11/25)
I’m abandoning the series."
Be still my heart *gasp!* This was one of my favorite series while it lasted :)

Many of us have been working on Sam's Littlest Pet Shop spell-out challenge for several years now and are still a l-o-n-g way from completion. Sam is no longer moderating in this group, so the rest of us made an executive decision that we hope will make it a little easier to finish the challenge.
From here on (beginning 8 October 2025 - you cannot backdate this!), we're making allowances for the letters Q, X, Y and Z.
Titles and author names DO NOT have to begin with these letters to use them to spell out your words. Instead, we will accept these letters anywhere in the book's title or author's first or last name. As usual, middle names/initials cannot be used.
