Going with another first-in-series book to see if I want to keep it on my list or move on to something else.

Week 50 = R1C1

Stony the Road: Reconstruction, White Supremacy, and the Rise of Jim Crow works nicely for the task asking for a book about racism.

I make a list each year of the books that I 'need' to read for this challenge, then choose from those first when filling other challenge spots as the year goes along. So far, it's worked well :)

Welcome to the game, Kathy! Sorry, but the book you listed can't be counted - you had to wait until I assigned a (secret) word to you before you start reading and guessing. Otherwise, your guess might somehow influence the word chosen for you.

That said, I've assigned a word to you now, so you're good to start reading and guessing. Have fun :)

Besides the correctly placed I, there is an N in your word, and the first one is in the correct position.

From here on (beginning 8 October 2025 - you cannot backdate this!), we're making allowances for the letters Q, X, Y and Z.

Titles and author names DO NOT have to begin with these letters to use them to spell out your words. Instead, we will accept these letters anywhere in the book's title or author's first or last name. As usual, middle names/initials cannot be used.
