52781 I jumped around in KF books (started like bk3) - never really felt list but ymmv

52781 I don't if I've really read any that I was totally lost by jumping in mid-way - since very few have a single story arc that transcends multiple books

52781 I can see it both ways - if earlier books weren't translated originally/prior to having an international following its a significant investment - but if a book does garner a following (be it a later one) it may be easier to do a multi-language translation

Then there are international publishing rights

52781 i panned an author and still got offers for her next books - i just didn't have time to read - although lots of people who got ARC's panned said book

52781 i'm currently listening to Dregs - Jørn Lier Horst - not bad, not awesome either - i seem to notice a lot more redundancy when listening, especially when it comes to the translation

52781 hey guys!

sorry, January was an epic fail on the AoTM front - lots of personal stuff going on - but never fear, we are back!

Our February AoTM is none other than Karin Fossum - for many of us she was one of our earlier intros to the genre, and others, she is a new discovery as more of her books are translated to English

so where are you going to start?
Jan 04, 2015 10:09AM

52781 It's going to be Karin but Naomi is moving and I've had some stuff going on - will be up today
Dec 15, 2014 02:12PM

52781 I can't promise who will be on the list - we will look at your ideas; release dates for reboots etc
Dec 15, 2014 06:02AM

52781 Naomi and I will be putting together the list of authors for next year in the next few days, so if you have any last minute additions, please let us know

52781 I don't know about you guys, but by the time December rolls around, I realize that I didn't read as many of the featured author books that I wanted - so, like last year, we decided to designate December as Catch-Up Month.

the featured authors for 2014 have been:
January - Lene Kaaberbøl
February - Jørn Lier Horst
March - Jussi Adler-Olsen
April - Anna Jansson
May - Arnaldur Indriðason
June - Carin Gerhardsen
July - Kjell Eriksson
August - Leena Lehtolainen
September - Quentin Bates
October - Jarkko Sipilä
November - Jens Amundsen

we've had pretty equal male/female representation this year - 5 female/6 male with Dec being a catch-up month
