Wow Ken, you're like a genuine font of information! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain all of that. Even though this is my second book, I'm still a bit lost when it comes to promotion and algorithms. It's a bummer that you have to wait 30 days to run a countdown deal - I was hoping that could be my launch pad when I release next week. So I'm still undecided as to whether I should lock myself in to the KDP select program, or publish on all platforms simultaneously. I just wanted to have my book available for €.99 for the first week - but can I simply do that myself? Just adjust the price back up to $2.99 after a few days? Sorry for all the questions, but you seem like a man in the know :))

Hi all - I'm Evie. I'm about to launch my second novel and I was thinking the same thing about $.99 promotions. If you sign up to select, do you have to use free promo days, or can you chose to set a discounted price instead? I see that they are doing countdown promotions now, so I was thinking of doing that instead of offering my book for free, which still feels wrong :-/ Any advice?
