No, sorry, should have explained better - it's to read any works by female authors.

I personally find it especially important for me to do this year after the Scott Bergstrom hoo ha recently.

So as some of you may or may not know, this December is #ReadWomen month. It's currently getting big on Twitter & Tumblr and I already have the start of my book list made out - some of them are even dusty books ;D (The Color Purple, The Handmaid's Tale, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Black Mamba Boy to name a few)

Will anyone else be reading along with this theme?

Yay!! PEOPLE!!!
I have no real excuse except new fitness regimes & attempting to knit special people presents has kept me occupied and away from computer (also away from books - which is even worse!)

So I've noticed a fair amount of shouting into the ether in this group.... I know I've been having troubles keeping up due to work and studying and trying to fit in reading and knitting etc but I was just wondering if there were a group of you lurking out there?

Our group reads/discussions seem to not be doing too well really, is anybody still interested in them?

I have inspections & office moves to deal with this month so may be quiet, but do not panic - Dusty does have another mod in case it all kicks off (ahahahaha) whilst I disappear.

I shall be starting the Outlander series for the summer :) Especially now I'm all caught up on Song of Ice and Fire ;)

I also enjoy the grouping, makes sense and keeps everything in one place rather than if he had gone through a timeline :)

My soldier/war based one shall be one I've kept putting off for a while - Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks.

Well, here's an executive decision..... the themes for this month's read :)

District - so books based around an area - as big or as small an area as you like - or about an area.

Soldiers/War - A book with the theme of war, battles, soldiers, etc as Rememberance/Armistice/Veterans day falls this month.

Enjoy yourselves :D

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring with my 1 vote for District Based... it's a big book that falls into that so I know I'll need a month for it ;)

Okay folks - here's a list of themes that you can choose from for next month:

Soldiers/War (with Veterans/Rememberance day falling in November)

Food (I believe that a number of our US members came forward with this idea in line with Thanksgiving being that month)

Festival (to link with the food - feasting/ celebrating sort of thing)

Autumnal/Fall cover theme - so what we consider autumn/fall colours on the covers of a book.

District based - so maybe a book or set of books based in an area... such as Appalachia, Italy, South of France or a smaller area such as the Amalfi Coast or Sardinia.... you get the picture.

Prequels/Sequels to classics not written by the same author (ie: 'Wicked' as prequel to Wizard of Oz or Scarlett to Gone With The Wind).

Award Winners - well, yeah, books that won awards ;)

Folks - the choice is yours :D

There have been a number of suggestions put through for next month's theme read, as well as many suggestions for other things that can be done, so they shall be put in a post or a poll for people to comment/vote upon and the two most wanted shall be in for November.

The suggestions for other things to do within the group shall also be put up for discussion :)
