I'd like to nominate David N. Walker's FANCY. The Goodread's link is: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15..."The Fancy series is the story of a fourteen year-old girl orphaned by the civil war who must make her own way in the world. In Fancy – Volume 1, she takes over running her family’s farm while caring for her four year-old sister."
I haven't read it yet, but have been wanting to. It's the first in a series. Plus "ten per cent of all proceeds goes to help Compassion International support needy children in South America and Africa, to help Teen Challenge turn drug addicts into solid, drug-free citizens, and for other similar works." From Mr. Walker's website.
The Anvil of the Craftsman - thriller by Dale Amidei. This is from Amazon:
A doctoral candidate in Theological Studies accepts recruitment by a friend in the U.S. State Department for an initiative to the most troublesome province in 2006 Iraq. The many challenges of nation building expand the mission from diplomacy to a survival situation as local and international interests position themselves to oppose a State Department initiative: one vital to progress in an uncertain theater.
Terrorism and counter-terror operations threaten to keep the team from leaving the relative safety of Baghdad. Until, that is, a former USAF Special Tactics operative hunting the men who want to kill them draws duty as their protector. The simple questions posed during a tribal council threaten provincial and regional stability; the conclusions reached explode into a clash of faith, loyalty, schism and betrayal that will help shape the future of two nations.
The Anvil of the Craftsman, the debut novel by author Dale Amidei, will be appreciated by fans of a broad range of fiction; from aficionados of the haunting themes of Ernest Hemingway to readers of the tightly woven plots of Tom Clancy and popular titles of authors like Vince Flynn, David Baldacci, W.E.B. Griffin and Richard Marcinko.
Welcome to all the new members. Looking forward to getting to know you all and to chatting about books. :-)
Hi all!Tales From The Mist, a horror/paranormal anthology was just released last month. It features several authors from the We Read Indie Books RG2E! Group.
From Joe McKinney, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Flesh Eaters and Mutated: “Tales From The Mist is one of those rare anthologies that gets it right from the first story to the last. It’s a magnificent feast of horror from some of the most assured voices working today. From cold-blooded tales of revenge to Faustian bargains to terrifying journeys into the dark corners of our world, these stories will make the shivers climb your back.”
From TW Brown, author of Dead: The Ugly Beginning: “To have a collection assembled by such a talented group of authors makes this THE anthology to own if you are a fan of horror.”

I haven't either. I have the book. Have had it a while and thought this would be a great time to actually get to read it. And then I completely forgot about reading for this book group until I got notice of Stacey's comment. I'll read it and will comment back here when I have. October really was a crazy month.

Completely understand. I need more hours to read as well.
I really enjoyed the book. It's fast-paced, great characters. Loved the gargoyle as best friend. :-) Anyone else finished yet?
I'm late, I know, but just wanted to say that I really loved this book! Lots of action, suspense and romance. Great combination! Definitely made me want to go to Italy and find my own adventure -- of course without all the shooting. :-)

Chick lit from male's point of view. Highly entertaining, and very, very funny.Hi Louise -- we read Trinity a few months back. I love that book! You should be able to see the discussion if you'd like here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/8...
My recommendation is Lost In Italy by Stacey Joy Netzel. I've had it waiting for me to read and I haven't had the chance. It sounds like a great read. Here's the description from Amazon:
Halli Sanders spent two years planning the trip of a lifetime to Italy. Her itinerary did not include being stranded by her siblings, kidnapped by a sexy American movie star, dodging bullets, or fleeing criminals in a car chase around Lake Como. And that's just in the first three hours.
...often go awry.
Trent Tomlin put his movie career on hold to investigate his brother's murder-ruled-suicide at his Italian villa. He's closing in on the suspects when an American tourist unwittingly films the murder of the retired cop helping him. The killers will stop at nothing to get the evidence--including holding Halli's family as collateral.
Life's a little different unscripted.
Thrust into the role of real-life hero, Trent finds himself falling for the Plain Jane whose beauty blossoms with every challenge they face. But how can he keep the evidence from the murderers to get justice for his brother and friend without betraying Halli and her family?
Thanks, Sheila! I'm well. Just way too much to do at the moment. I'm sorry, but I just had to give up on this book. Maybe I'll try it again later when I'm less stressed.
