72980 Can you ask the library if they can send it to your library from another library that has it? Sometimes they can do that...

72980 I agree, Sabina. The characters were very believable! It too reminded me of the wonderful book, "The Book Thief".

72980 5/5 stars!

I loved this book.

Historical fiction is probably my favorite genre of reading. I love the way this story was told. I thought the idea of incorporating art in a story with so much horror was beautiful. I really enjoyed the little flashbacks of Lina's life and the ending just made me smile...

...but her FATHER??? AH!!!

72980 Rating: 5/5 stars (aka 10/5 stars lol)

Authors such as Baum, Lewis, Barrie, Carroll and Rowling create beloved stories that are set in places such as Oz, Neverland, Narnia, Wonderland, and Hogwarts. They bring imagination and glimpses of hope, love and friendship to every lucky person reading their books. No matter how wonderful those worlds are that these amazing authors have brought to readers; the circus setting is my favorite.

Erin Morgenstern created perfection with this book. After reading it now for a fourth time; it still blows my mind how detailed, imaginative, and beautiful it is.

Oh where to begin...I love that I can while reading this book see, hear, taste, feel, and smell this one of a kind circus. The colors though at first may seem dull are in fact genius and elegant. I could hear the laughter, people talking and the clock ticking. I could smell the bottled up memories in Wigets tent along with the caramel popcorn, chocolate mice, and cinnamon cakes. This book was so detailed and descriptive that I thought my hand was holding the admission ticket and opening the striped tents that lead to adventure.

Not only did this book have beautiful writing, but also had so many great characters. Friedrick (aka clockmaker) was such a magical character. The man in the grey suit was mysterious and towards the end of the book I just wanted to take his lines and rip them off the page and save them forever. One of my favorite scenes in the whole book is with Marco and Isobel at the very beginning who are kissing in the rain.

If in my lifetime I ever do meet Ms. Morgenstern, I can't wait to tell her that she has written my favorite book!

72980 really enjoyed the story.

(my last few words were cut off for some reason).

72980 3.5 rating. (contains SPOLIERS)

Fannie Flagg wrote a very good story, full of southern charm, a handful of wonderful characters and a place that takes you back to simpler times; narrated by a unique voice, and also a very relatable one. Ninny reminded me of a classic beautiful storyteller; a grandmother telling her story to her grandchildren.

I think I had an advantaged going into this book because I already saw the movie. The movie is wonderful and heartfelt. The book has so many heartfelt moments as well, but because the book is seriously all jumbled up its hard to follow. I believe the author did this on purpose to show Ninny as a somewhat confused woman, but it still got on my nerves.

"The Newspaper" set up was clever and made me feel like I was really apart of this charming place called Whistle Stop. But in areas a little much...

TWO things:
1. In the book did you think Idgie and Ruth were "lesbians"? I think yes, but not in the movie.

2. In the movie Ninny and Idgie are the same person. Do you think it's the same in the book? There is somewhat of an unanswered question in the book towards that....
I think Ninny and Idgie were just sister-in-laws in the book and not the same person. The jar of honey on Ruth's grave I think answers that...

Overall, the movie was better than the book in so many parts especially the ending, but still really enjoyed the story.

72980 (MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!)

My rating: 3/5 stars.

The story had wonderful magical aspects that all fairytales possess and having the story take place during winter with a world full of ice and wonder made even more likable. However, I felt C.S. Lewis did a much better job of telling a Fairytale set in winter with, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe".

I enjoyed, "Breadcrumbs" just didn't love it! I thought the ending would have been better if Jack would have chosen to stay in the woods and lived like so many of the characters Hazel met along the way.
