The TV show is good, but condenses and brushes over a lot of what I'd call the meat of it (fantastic character development and really established cultures/powers in the setting).

Yep! Also with work. My team is falling apart due to a crappy boss, and I keep getting thrust into leadership positions. Which would be flattering, except it's exhausting, it's not netting me any added pay or benefits, and it's meaning a lot of cognitive load, long days, and scheduling bullshittery.
May the chaos smooth out for us both, soon!

Find me a book based in Africa (any nation).
Hello everyone! Sorry I've been AWOL. It's been a chaotic time. Hopefully we all have happier, healthier times starting soon.

If a certain weather condition is frequent or consistent through at least a large share of the book then it works."There were a few instances of looking out the window at dreary rain and dreary rain keeping the MCs indoors, but only one lightning storm. I'm thinking it doesn't count, then. :)

Bonus: In the story, weather is a theme for Will's emotional vulnerability (most notably, the romance blooming during a lightning storm in Mauritius). Not sure if that counts as "strong theme", but throwing it out there in case. :)
