A Primary View

Hmm... where to begin? suppose the best place is sharing what I believe, because that is the foundation by which this new community is founded on:

This is one of three quotes that I've so far found in life that articulate my world view. Namely, PLAY IS ESSENTIAL! :D I believe that no matter one's age, a life void of playtime is a life missing that special something. That fire

This is one of three quotes that I've so far found in life that articulate my world view. Namely, PLAY IS ESSENTIAL! :D I believe that no matter one's age, a life void of playtime is a life missing that special something. That fire of life. That sparkle that makes all the boring bits and pieces worth it, because you know that playtime is available just around the corner. Fun!

But what is playtime? And does it necessarily need to include physical exercise to be considered play? These are the questions I asked myself that led me to the creation of this meetup.

I believe that playtime is any activity that brings about a sense of flow. To me, being in "flow" means that I am experiencing joy, that I am only in the present moment and all future and past moments have been removed from my mind. There is nothing in the world except the activity I am engaged in. I suppose, that to me, playtime is a form of meditation. Without a regular dose of playtime, life starts to get pretty dull.

For me, next to dancing, using my imagination is my bread and butter form of playtime. Some people are story tellers. I like to think of myself as an idea teller. Give me a topic I've had time to explore on my own and then present me with a group of people who want to hear what I have to say and I'm in my playtime element. :) Does this sound like you?
