[close] 1. You must initiate or participate in at least five conversations (on your chosen novel) on 5 different days.
2. Your responses must show you are reading and have spent some time reflecting on the subject matter of the novel.
3. Do not declare "I love or hate the novel" or "I don't understand the language." Whatever you enjoy or take issue with must be followed by a detailed explication.
4. You must point to specific passages in your novel in order to support your point.
5. Good responses should point to language and its function, literary devices and their function, the relevant social situation in the novel as it compares to or contrasts to our current social situation, identification of elements related to syntax and diction or aspects that resonate with you on a personal level and why.
6. You must discuss aspects of the beginning, middle and the end of your chosen novel.
