[close] If you’ve been looking for a reason to read outside your comfort zone and expand your literary horizons, you need to take the GCPL 100-Book Challenge. Participants have two years to read 100 books from a list of about 379 titles that have been been selected to induce discovery in all genres and styles. That’s about a book a week. Granted, it’s not for wimps. But, the prize is worth the effort. Keep reading.

Here’s how it works: Sign up for the challenge at any GCPL reference desk. Then, you will be able to “opt in” to the challenge inside your online library account where your progress will be tracked. You can monitor your expanded literary repertoire as you accumulate new reading successes. After you’ve read the book, visit the reference desk to answer a simple question about it to “prove” you read the book. That’s it!
Your title will be checked off, and your progress will be noted on a leaderboard so that all contestants will know where they stand.
