Based on a fifteen-year study of nearly one hundred college teachers in a wide variety of fields and universities, the short answer is that it's not what teachers know about their content--it's that they know how to engage and challenge students.Faculty participating in this learning community will reflect on how Bain’s insights apply to their own teaching practice. [close] Nearly 75% of college students cheat during their undergraduate careers, usually attributed to the laziness of today's students or their lack of a moral compass. In Cheating Lessons, Lang's research shows that students often cheat because their learning environments give them ample incentives to try and that strategies which make cheating less worthwhile also improve student learning. Members of this learning community will develop a set of recommendations for how faculty can discourage student cheating.
