AS TRADITION DICTATES, the Protector of the Regime must step down to occupy the seat on the Council when a member of the Council dies. So ends the fifteen-year term of Protector Jaein Park, Earth Class, upon the death of Councilman Edgar Pouten, Fire Class.

Councilman Pouten’s death means more than the end of a controversial rule. It calls for the Trials, a contest of power and strategy between the four classes as they grapple to gain control of the Regime. A fight, so to speak—one to the death.
