Luann Fun list! Although I just want to mention that SOME of these series were written LONG before Harry Potter. :) So Harry Potter fans should definitely check them out if they haven't yet. There was fantasy before Harry Potter. :) I'm just saying.

message 2: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Ok, I added the Dark Lord of Derkholm, but there's only two in that series. Still, it is so good that you really have to check it out.

message 3: by Annie (new)

Annie Added a lot of books from this list!

message 6: by Jenn (new)

Jenn i know! i still adore harry potter!!! but this is good for when youve finished HP and need a new book/series to read...

message 7: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 14, 2009 05:36PM) (new)

i agree with you, jen! as a true hp lover, i sometimes i wish i could be a character of the book, although,............................... their life seems a little dangerous though. oh! are we talking about the list????!!! i was thinking about hp! but as for that list, just gotta luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv it! uhem! back to daydreaming.................................................

message 8: by Jenn (new)

Jenn lol! i know how you feel davina!

message 9: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Twilight is romance, period. There is no fantastastic world building or in-depth characters. It shouldn't be on the list.

message 10: by Anneke (new)

Anneke Agreed.

message 11: by Cutebabys (new)

Cutebabys Ditto, Twilight is romance. Should so not be in this list. But really, Harry Potter was one of the best books I've ever read. Twilight just cannot compete. Sure, it was okay...but it was still romance.

message 12: by Buku (new)

Buku tua bartimeous is the best. i wonder why The Lightning Thief be #1, is it that good?

message 13: by Anneke (new)

Anneke lets not all grumble at twilight now...although Stephenie Meyer kind of deserves it...
Twilight (the first book) was OK, but she dragged it on and made it totally unappealing and nobody or nothing ever changes. I hate it.

message 14: by Bd (new)

Bd Girl anybody like Harry Potter?
it sucks

message 15: by Anneke (new)

Anneke I LOVE HARRY POTTER! At first I thought it was an semi-OK thing, but when you reread it...I mean, that is eons beyond what I could ever do! It is genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 16: by Anneke (new)

Anneke Well, if you haven't read the book just say something like, "No opinion." And then you are good. Sometimes you can guess if the type is so obvious (like Wake...I got to chapter four and it was like SO many other books...) that you can't finish it. Some people are good at that, but generally, it is a no-no.

message 17: by Anneke (new)

Anneke I think that books that are just spin-offs of a popular series (Harry Potter often has a whole bunch of little books that are almost plagiarizing it...) are kind of stupid too.

Anyways, I am reading "Parade of Shadows" by Whelan. It is pretty awesome so far. Except very obvious romance...but what is romance, really, if it isn't obvious.

message 18: by Anneke (new)

Anneke That's why we have lots of types of books!

message 19: by Megan (new)

Megan Twighlight is extremley dull and poorley written. Though you must give Stephanie Meyers credit for making such a low quality book that almost everyone seems to like.

message 20: by Megan (new)

Megan I like your taste in books!!

message 21: by Hannah (new)

Hannah i luv this list...offically. i agree with basically every comment on here. :D

message 30: by Coleen (new)

Coleen appreciate your comments. now i know what books to read.

message 31: by Denise (new)

Denise Roper You may want to read The Lord of the Hallows after reading Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. This book explains the deeper meaning of both series. More information can be found at www.outskirtspress.com/thelordoftheha....

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

i never liked harry potter so i guess you could say i just started with this list. I added all of the last apprentice series just because on the back of the first book it says: "perfect for the reader who has outgrown harry potter!"

so true, check it out

i really dont like twilight at all, the whole series. i tryed to read the first book but i still couldent hold my attention after fifty pages. honestly i think it book and movie wer over publiscized to much, and that the one and only reason it did good.

Yeah. She must of made (and probably still is making) a TON of money off of the whole thing. Ugh.
I don't like Twilight. Partly because it's so popular, but also because of the quality of the book.

Great list! Although I've never read Harry Potter (my dad kind of forbids it), I like a lot of the book on this list. I'll definitely be back to check it out again!

message 35: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith Why are the Harry Potter Books on this list if it's for books to read AFTER Harry Potter?

message 36: by Rebecca (last edited Apr 02, 2010 03:53PM) (new)

Rebecca I liked Gregor the Overlander, Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games, Leven Thumps, Magyk, Artemis Fowl, The Mysterious Benedict Society, Peter and the Starcachers, Charlie Bone, A Wrinkle in Time, The City of Ember, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Howl's Moving Castle. There are lots of other books on that list that I have read, but these are the ones that stood out the most. And by the way, just because I'm 13 doesn't mean that I can't have read loads of the books on that list. :)
