Thank you William! Me too! I have only worked through a few of these titles and now I am taking a quick trip through early twentieth century history in Italy and Spain.
Lobstergirl wrote: "Timothy Snyder suggested people read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?"Yes, it is a little surprising. Snyder stated in On Tyranny that this novel is about a totalitarian form of government taking over a formerly free society, which is true. He doesn't necessarily say that it is a great book.
As a general question to readers, are any of you aware of ebook versions of The Language of the Third Reich by Victor Klemperer and The Uses of Adversity by Timothy Garton Ash? In English, ideally. Despite the absurd number of books that I read every year, I have a print disability that makes it difficult for me to read "real" books. I would like to read all of the books that Snyder recommends in On Tyranny.
