This list is start on books that my ten year old son have given a "thumbs up." The list isn't targeted specifically at boys- just books that he enjoyed, some with a female protagonist or that could be enjoyed by either boys or girls. The purpose is to introduce increasingly complex style and vocabulary to strong readers. Books on this list will vary widely in terms of mature themes- some these books obviously work better for younger/older ranges. All books added to this list must have a lexile level of at least 800-- this higher lexile does disqualify a lot of great children's literature with complex themes, but the purpose of the list is to increase lexile range for advanced readers.
